FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF THE OPEN CRACK INFLUENCE ON THE COMPRESSOR BLADE NATURAL FREQUENCIES

This paper presents the results of the numerical investigations on assessing the influence of open crack parameters on the natural frequencies of vibration of the compressor rotor blade with using of finite element method. 3D finite element models of the blade airfoil with damage were developed. The damage is represented by a notch. The regularities are established that determine the variation in the frequency of their first five vibration modes depending on the depth of the damage, and its location along the length of the object of investigation. It has been established that, depending on the notch position and depth simulating the damage and having a determining influence on the elastic and inertial characteristics of the blade, the change in its spectrum of the natural frequencies of vibration is observed. At a certain position of the notch for the given values of its depth, the natural frequencies of vibration of the damaged and undamaged blades become equal. This is indicative of that the damage equally influences the change in the elastic and inertial properties of the blade.
