SIMULATIONS OF TRAPPED MODES IN AXISYMMETRIC DUCT WITH NON-POTENTIAL MEAN FLOW

The trapped and embedded trapped acoustic modes of an axisymmetric duct with symmetrical discontinuity are studied with non-potential mean flow. These modes induce local amplification of the acoustic level. The trapped mode appears for frequencies lower than the cut-off frequency of the duct and the embedded trapped mode for higher frequencies. For mean flow simulations, the fluid is considered perfect and incompressible. Numerical simulations of the trapped acoustic modes are done thanks a finite element model based on mixed formulation of Galbrun equations. Simulations are performed for different geometries of the discontinuity (cavity, diaphragm, double diaphragm...), different frequencies and different Mach Number.
