Aircraft flyover noise is a serious issue of urban noise pollution impaction. This induces annoyance increase to community nearby airport. Sound masking already has been proved to be useful to reduce the environmental noise annoyance. However, there is no study on the sound masking to the aircraft flyover noise. The aim of this study is to research the sound masking effect by adding music sounds to the aircraft flyover noise. One music clip and one water sound were selected as masker and combined to the aircraft flyover noise with different sound level ratios. Participants were recruited to evaluate the stimuli in annoyance laboratory experiment. The masking effects were analyzed from the annoyance rate data. The study results showed that the masking effects of the music sound were obviously better than the water sound.
