DESIGN AND EVALUATION OF THE VIBRATION DAMPING CONTROLLER FOR A PUSHCART CONSIDERING THE BEHAVIOR OF AN UNGROUNDED WHEEL

Pushcarts have been widely used as useful carry equipment for various packages. However, pushcarts also have required reducing the shock and vibration transmitted to packages, especially such as the vibration-sensitive packages. Under these backgrounds, authors have developed a low shock and low vibration pushcart utilizing center of percussion and the active vibration damping controller. The controller suppresses the residual vibration by controlling the voice coil motor placed between the cart loading-platform and the wheel support block. Input of this controller consists of the signal of accelerometer attached to the cart loading platform. However, the experimental results of passing over a bump proved disappointing. The main cause is considerd that the wheel is just ungrounded after passing over a bump. To solve this problem, an additional accelerometer was attached to the wheel support block connected to the VCM in order to retrstrict the sharp behavior change of the wheel support block when the wheel is ungrounded. In this presentation, the design and effectiveness of the above mentioned controller will be shown.
